This horse grazing in a coulee beside Wascana Creek appears to have a bad eye, which caught my attention . It appeared to be otherwise healthy.

When this horse came close to the fence to check me out I noticed that its eye was an odd colour. I have subsequently learned that this condition is common in pintos.

When this horse came over to the fence for a closer look at me I noticed that it had odd-looking eyes. I don't know if it is a genetic condition or some kind of health problem, but it is noticeable.

A challenge is photographing bison - apart from being chased by one - is to capture the eye, which is dark brown and surrounded by dark brown fur. More powerful editing software has enabled me to achieve some detail around the eye without turning the vegetation an unnatural looking green. Take at Grasslands National Park, West Block.

After listening to me talk to it for a while, this horse came over for a closer look and a nose rub. There appeared to be something wrong with the horse's right eye, so I hope the owner is aware of that.

This was one of four horses grazing in a coulee on a winter morning. Of the four, this is the one that paid attention while I was talking to it.
