This image shows one panel of the metal sculpture created by the late Joe Fafard, which he titled Mind Garden. The central figures appear to be a horse and a rider, perhaps depicting a member of the original North West Mounted Police. although he appears to be riding side-saddle on a rocking horse. Fafard is perhaps making a comment about the role of the NWMP in helping to settle western Canada.

The Prairie wind scours snow from the surface of the earth in some places, only to sculpt it into curves and folds in other places. Not much snow was available in this late November image, but enough to create this sculpture on a stubble field.

A painted-metal sculpture by Regina-based artist Vic Cicansky was recently installed at a community garden near my home. Cicansky usually works in ceramics, often creating sculptures of vegetables and preserves. This large installation continues his exploration of things that grow, and appropriately, is located in a community garden full of growing plants.

This piece of public art is located in a triangular parcel of land where two major roadways intersect. Throughout the year someone with a sense of whimsy decorates the dinosaur with different hats, garlands of flowers and around St. Patrick's Day, with a green tie. Whoever does the decorating must come out in the wee hours, because their identity appears to be a well-kept secret.

This dramatic sculpture sat on a window sill at Saskatchewan's Government House. I like the sense of energy it portrays.
