Laguna Hedionda ("stinking lagoon", due to its sulphur content) is one of a string of Altiplano lagoons in SW Bolivia situated near the border to Chile at well over 4100m.
Laguna Hedionda ("stinkende Lagune", wegen des Schwefelgehalts) ist einer einer Reihe von Seen auf über 4100m Höhe. Sie liegen im Hochland von SW Bolivien nahe der Grenze zu Chile.

Chiar Khota is the hispanized version of the Aymara Ch'iyar Quta (black lake). Another of the string of highland lagoons near the Chilean border, Laguna Chiar Khota lies at 4201m.
Laguna Chiar Khota (4201mm) ist einer in einer Reihe von Salzseen nahe der Grenze zu Chile. Chiar Khota ist die hispanisierte Form des Aymara- Namens Ch'iyar Quta und bedeutet schwarzer See.

Laguna Honda (4114m) is one of a string of salt lagoons in SW Bolivia near the border to Chile. The highland lagoons are a main breeding area of the endemic James's flamingo.

Laguna Capina is situated at appr. 4.440m, some 30 km north of Laguna Colorada. It is mined for Borax by manual labour using pick and shovel and a simple workshop and workers' lodgings are on the shore (see inset). The "road" on the left is used by lorries.
