The Sunday Challenge (TSC): something that used to be something else So called "Wasserschloss" was built in 1905-06 (probably by Bernhard Georg Hanssen and Wilhelm Emil Meerwein) as lodging and workshop for dockworkers whose job was servicing and repairing the hydraulic winches which were needed to lift goods into the tall storehouses. Nowadays it houses a tea shop and a restaurant. Inset a blue hour shot taken on 30.04.2016 (30sec., f/8.0, 45mm, ISO 100, EOS 6D, EF 24-105) Hamburg Speicherstadt and Kontorhaus district was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 2015: whc.unesco.org/en/list/1467

SC49 -Bridge One from the recent archives, I couldn't do much this week due to summer flu. I will slowly catch up in the next days.... The port City of Hamburg has nearly 2500 bridges, many more than Venice (ca. 400). The ones in the photo are in Speicherstadt ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speicherstadt ) with its old warehouses that stand on timber pile foundations. Speicherstadt and the inner city of Hamburg are criss-crossed by so called Fleets (tidal canals), hence the vast number of bridges. whc.unesco.org/en/list/1467 Kannengießerortbrücke seen from Sandtorkai- Hof
