From S. Perpendicular W tower (built following a bequest in 1493) with the remainder rebuilt to the design of Charles Humfrey; work began in 1806 and appears to have been complete by 1812. I suspect that the window in the S transept is a Victorian replacement - compare the window in the corresponding transept on the N side seen in the next shot. The E end of St Mary, which stands in the same churchyard, is visible on the right. From SE. Rebuilt 1788 to designs of John Wing (1728-94), who also designed King's Norton in Leicestershire ( www.leicestershirechurches.co.uk/#/kings-norton-church-le... ). The W tower and the chancel with its chapels are on the plan of the medieval church but the nave was rebuilt without aisles, according to a plan from the faculty authorizing the rebuilding which is displayed in the church - this accounts for the unusual T-shaped plan. List description: list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1192313 . Taken during a brief period of sunshine on an otherwise foggy day; the Welland valley to the north is still full of mist.
