I took a few glamour shots with the zoom before encouraging it to go elsewhere. It wants less to do with us and was happy to oblige.

I see western diamondbacks all the time but this was my first sighting of a live mojave rattlesnake.

At twilight Roxanne and I kept spotting a small snake trying to emerge from a gopher hole at camp. She snapped a picture to show me and I immediately recognized the flat diamond head of a viper.

We patiently let it come out so it could vacate.
