Rocks on the top of Hallin Fell stand out against the shadowy mountain range of more summits in the Ullswater area.

On my way around Derwentwater to catch a launch I spotted this raven in the middle of a thundery downpour. Luckily I was in some woodland, so the camera didn't get too wet.

St Bega's is a tiny little church on the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake, Northern Lake District. Pity that the red squirrel has become an endangered species in most of England, due to the invasion of its greedy grey relative from North America. Here in the Lake District people have become fiercely protective of the little fellas, as this hand-painted sign shows, which I spotted while walking through Grange-in-Borrowdale. Early, early one summer morning... The water of the lake was absolutely still, noone was about except a few ducks, a few gulls and this elderly lady with her tripod, who just can't resist blue/orange combinations.

There are few nicer things to do on a sunny summer evening after a long fell walk than going home across Derwentwater on board a launch by the name of "Princess Margaret Rose".
