Finally managed to download the manual for my little G12 today. Found a lot of functions some of which noone really needs, like this one, called "fisheye effect". Oh well, but it's fun playing with it.

These are the dried and decayed blossoms of a creeper whose name I don't remember; it's also called "architect's delight" because it looks really nice on buildings and grows very fast. I was in doubt whether to focus on the hairy bits or the dark bits but finally I liked the hairy bits better because they're so shiny and delicate. View Awards Count

Difficult to take, was inside the shop, and all that lovely afternoon sun was streaming in through the window. Wanted to get the slogan on the box together with a few of the surrounding tea things to give it some context. Ended up with a composition I'm not really convinced of, also the blown-out bits on the teapot are a nuisance but on the other hand the general yellowness of the image is so full of springtime feelings (just read in a home design magazine that yellow is the new in colour for furniture - yellow sideboards, yellow chairs, even a limited-edition yellow Billy shelf from IKEA - haha, when I wanted yellow fronts for my new kitchen about a year ago I was told by one salesperson that I was twenty years too late, the trendy colours were white and aubergine, I think you can imagine where I did NOT buy the kitchen in the end), and the tea you can buy in the place is so good that I simply had to shoot this image despite all its (and my) shortcomings. Everybody was on the ice today in the glorious Friday afternoon sun - it's a festivity we only have once every ten years or so when Lake Alster in the middle of the city is frozen solid.

And before anyone asks again: No, I didn't dig a hole in the ground for the camera. The secret is that the Canon G12 has a pivotable display so you can stand the camera on the ground, turn the display by 90 degrees and look at it from above. Groovy! Zur Abwechslung scheint mal die Sonne, der Himmel über Berlin strahlt, die Fahne des Neuen Museums flattert lustig im Wind (hier gibt es die Nofretete zu besichtigen), nur das Straßenschild am Lustgarten hat seine Inschrift verloren, wahrscheinlich im Verlaufe des Anschlusses der DDR an Westdeutschland. For once the sun is shining, the sky over Berlin sparkles bluer than blue, the flag of the "Neues Museum" (New Museum, that's where you can admire Nefertiti) is happily fluttering in the breeze, only the street sign at the "Lustgarten" has lost its name, probably as a result of the GDR being annexed by West Germany.

Ein wundervoll sonniger Wintermorgen erwartete mich heute nach dem Aufstehen - und der Garten meiner Nachbarin bot herrlich frostige Motive. A wonderful sunny winter's morn was waiting for me when I got up today - so I took a walk in my neighbour's garden and was rewarded with a plethora of delightful, frosty motives.
