120|366: just like cézanne's apples

Finally managed to download the manual for my little G12 today. Found a lot of functions some of which noone really needs, like this one, called "fisheye effect". Oh well, but it's fun playing with it.

These are the dried and decayed blossoms of a creeper whose name I don't remember; it's also called "architect's delight" because it looks really nice on buildings and grows very fast.
I was in doubt whether to focus on the hairy bits or the dark bits but finally I liked the hairy bits better because they're so shiny and delicate.

123|366: signpost

Yet another image from my mysterious Saturday mission - interested followers of my 366 projects may ask whatever happened to the "rusty old ship". The answer is I had to sink it, at least for the time being as it'll take some more time than expected to get the permission to publish it and other images from that place. So here's an interesting signpost I was able to capture on public ground - no problem here. I numbered it accordingly so as not to create a gap in the project but I might replace it with the original shot later.

128|366: Im Teekontor - at the tea shop

Difficult to take, was inside the shop, and all that lovely afternoon sun was streaming in through the window. Wanted to get the slogan on the box together with a few of the surrounding tea things to give it some context. Ended up with a composition I'm not really convinced of, also the blown-out bits on the teapot are a nuisance but on the other hand the general yellowness of the image is so full of springtime feelings (just read in a home design magazine that yellow is the new in colour for furniture - yellow sideboards, yellow chairs, even a limited-edition yellow Billy shelf from IKEA - haha, when I wanted yellow fronts for my new kitchen about a year ago I was told by one salesperson that I was twenty years too late, the trendy colours were white and aubergine, I think you can imagine where I did NOT buy the kitchen in the end), and the tea you can buy in the place is so good that I simply had to shoot this image despite all its (and my) shortcomings.

Spent an awfully long time taking shots of my new Easter decoration, didn't like any of them. It's really difficult keeping the cluttered background out of the composition. This was my last picture, taken in the other direction, from behind the table into the garden, and it was the only one I actually liked, especially the bokeh. Not too sure about the grey blob in the background (garden path) but if I'd cropped that I'd also have lost the twists of the hazelnut twig, which I rather like. Looking forward to your comments.

And before anyone asks again: No, I didn't dig a hole in the ground for the camera. The secret is that the Canon G12 has a pivotable display so you can stand the camera on the ground, turn the display by 90 degrees and look at it from above. Groovy! (Nobody seems to say that any more.)
