Peggy Sue Pegged Out

A peg she had not seen before lay on the back doorstep. At first she supposed she must have dropped it the day before. But no. It bore a number. None of the others had a number. So: the codeword was '11'. But she had lost the secret code book. For years she had felt safer without it. Suppose Secret Service agents searched her house and found it? And now she was an ordinary housewife living in an ordinary town and enjoying an ordinary marriage. Although something Marjorie had once said made her wonder if her marriage might actually be a little extraordinary, but she couldn't do much about that aspect now. Anyway, very inconveniently the call to activate had come, when she thought (?hoped) they had forgotten all about her. And she had to do number 11. Oh dear. What was number 11? If only they'd asked her to do number 3. She could remember that well enough.
Blue Period

With the fragmentation of the Famous Five, Julian had cycled to France for a break where he would have time to reflect on the maelstrom which had engulfed the Kirrins. Pausing for a glass of Coca Cola in Aix-en-Provence he was joined by an elderly man for a convivial discourse on life, art, modern culture, and Spanish history. That old chap turned out to be Pablo Picasso, and he had so influenced the young Julian Kirrin that he became a leading figure in the art world of the 1970s renowned for the many masterpieces he painted exclusively in shades of blue oils on old packing cases..
To be continued. Or not, as the case may be.

In the UK this item is called a clothes peg. In the US it is called a clothes pin. But I never heard of a JPIN.
Mario Maccaferri, creator of the Selmer-Maccaferri guitar Django Reinhardt used in the 1930's-1950's, patented two types of plastic clothespin designs in 1947. Thanks to Murray Leshner (known on ipernity as ‘Murrayatuptown’) for this interesting snippet.

Lens: Chinon 55mm f/1.4, originally coupled with a Chinon CX SLR of the 1970s where it was a £10 upgrade to the usual f/1.7 lens.
This picture was made with the addition of a Minolta Close-Up Lens No.1 to the lens filter mount.

Photographed using a Helios-44 preset lens having M42 screw thread fitted via an adapter to a Canon EOS 30D camera. The lens has a focal length of 58mm and on the Canon it gives a field of view of just over 90mm.

This 55mm f/1.4 Chinon lens came with a Chinon CX camera dating from c1976. I bought them on eBay for £37 in 2015. I only wanted the lens, which was made by the Tomioka company for Chinon, who sub-contracted all their lens needs during that period.
I photographed it using a Helios-44 58mm f/2 lens on a Canon EOS 30D camera. The Helios is even older, probably made during the 1960s. It is a preset lens; I had no experience of such technology until acquiring it. I got it on eBay attached to a Zenit-E camera.

Five years ago I took this photograph using a Nikon 18-70mm lens which I subsequently sold in a clear-out of DX lenses. Quite recently I bought another identical lens to replace it. They are available only secondhand now and the photographic press says they are no longer up to the standard required by new DX cameras of higher megapixel levels.

Photographed with a Nikkor 18-70mm lens on a Nikon D70s just moments before the camera began an electronic hissy fit. Such a shame, because the colour from the D70 is so special. But they are very old and temperamental now, and Nikon have not fitted CCD sensors for years, so replacement with a more recent model seems unlikely.
Lens at 70mm. 200 ISO; f/9; 1/100th.
