The Frome Bridge

The river is visible from the railings on the right-hand side of the street, but not so on the left-hand side. That is because there are buildings on the bridge. Similar exists in Bath and Lincoln, where there are multi-storied shops built on the bridge. Nikon D40 and 18-200mm lens.

An unusual combination of a jurassic Nikon lens - the Nikkor O.C 35mm f/2 - and a long discontinued Canon digital camera - the EOS 30D. I could have used a Nikon camera instead but sometimes I feel contrary. The effect of 35mm focal length on the 30D is a field of view equivalent to a 56mm lens on a film camera of the 35mm era (not that there were any 56mm lenses, but there were plenty of 55mm ones). It is possible to employ aperture-priority with this set-up, but I seem to get on better with everything in manual. It's like using a Zenith EM with a Helios 58mm f/2 lens. This is where I came in.

The law that these signs must not obstruct the highway, contrary to Section 137 and 148 of the Highways Act 1980 is being ignored. Sections 143 and 149 of the Act give the highways authority powers to remove these items. The authorities rarely use their powers. The law is there not to persecute shop owners, nor to damage business, but to protect blind and partially sighted people, and anyone whose mobility is restricted generally.
