Cropped and processed, yet notable for having been taken using 100 ISO on a Nikon D2Xs, a camera not much good beyond 400 ISO.

"When you eventually discard your intentions
I shall leave you for other gardens."
Henry Graham (born 1 December 1930 in Liverpool) is a British poet. Educated at the Liverpool College of Art in the early 1950s, he was part of the Liverpool poetry scene in the 1960s. The lines above are the end of 'A Bridge a Crossing' which was included as the first poem in the Corgi books anthology of 1967 'Love, Love, Love: The New Love Poetry'. (There is a lot of love in it, but potential purchasers were a bit slow-witted back then and needed clear and repetitive messages. Thank goodness we are so much more sophisticated nowadays.)
Nikon D700 + Tamron AF 70-210mm f/2.8 SP LD lens. I like this lens. It is pro quality, with good optical performance and a sturdy construction. I particularly like it because it cost me only £165 (this is very good value for a lens of this type and this good, despite its age: it dates from circa 1992). But what I do not like so well is that it weighs 3lb (1,340g).

In 1900 The Courts was bought by the architect Sir George Hastings. Hastings introduced a collection of garden ornaments brought from Ranelagh House in Barnes, London.

There had been drizzle and it made the flagstones at the front of The Courts rather interesting.

I discovered this yellowed bookmark in an old prayer book in a second hand bookshop. It records through a newspaper announcement the death of a soldier engaged in the British campaign to relieve Ladysmith in January, 1900.
The Manders family lived at Castlesize, Sallins, County Kildare.
