Nikon D700 wearing a 200mm Nikkor AI lens. An OK lens but I never had much use for it. This was shot at f/8. It wasn't deliberate, but I got a nice blotchiness in the allium behind the only one anywhere near in focus.

The red rugby shirt has a label bearing the name Uwin. Uwin was a minor sportswear company during the 1960s and 1970s. It was part of the William Pickles Group and disappeared when the parent company went bust. I used a 200mm f/4 Ai lens on a Nikon D40. It was a totally manual experience where I set aperture and shutter speed and focussed the lens. This is how photography used to be. I'm not complaining about the progress since.

Nikon D2Xs + Nikkor 200mm f/4 AI lens on a teleconverter TC16A.

I used a Nikkor 200mm f/4 AI lens, made sometime between 1977 and 1981, in combination with a Nikon TC-16A teleconverter on a Nikon D2Xs camera. This provided a focal length of 320mm and a field of view equivalent to almost 500mm on a full frame SLR. The TC-16A was designed to work with Nikon's first AF cameras during the 1980s. It enables photographers to mount manual focus lenses and, within certain limits, use them in automatic focus mode. By some strange design quirk, it functions on the D2Xs, Nikon's last professional camera to use the APS-C format.
