This is photographed from the Marlborough Road junction where the stone circle ends and West Kennet avenue begins. The tractor is going south towards Beckhampton. A vast quantity of straw bales is moved around this district at this time of year. You can see the Devil's Chair stone beyond the beech trees on the right hand side.

One Sunday I took a notion to walk from the National Trust's car park at Avebury to West Kennet Long Barrow. The first section of the walk is alongside the beginning of the River Kennet approaching Silbury Hill. The next section is crossing the Great West Road and following this footpath to the Barrow. Of the many photographs I took both going and returning, this is the one I like to gaze at most. I have no idea why that is.
