One of those rare occasions where Peter Pan Foundations meets the CND. Both of them prominent in their own way in the 1960s.

A double exposure made from two photographs displayed on a monitor. I used a Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 AI-S on a Nikon D2Xs. The peace campaigner was originally photographed with a Nikkor-H 300mm f/4.5 lens on the same camera seven years previously whereas the spinney in front of the houses was very recently shot using a Nikkor AF-S DX 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 G ED lens again on the D2Xs. A bit of post processing in Lightroom for effect.

Nikkor-H Auto 300mm f/4.5

23 Sep 2016 2 196
A brave individual campaign for peace which I stumbled upon whilst trialling a Nikkor-H Auto 300mm f/4.5 lens made circa 1971. Inexplicably I had just about every camera setting wrong. ISO was far too low; shutter speed was ridiculously slow; aperture was much too small. I look back on this as something of a missed opportunity. It could have been so much better. I remain puzzled as to why the peace campaign should have taken place outside the gates of Lacock Abbey on that day, yet many interesting things seem to happen there.

Campaign

I am standing here, where no-one else will stand Because I am making a stand. I reject the war they have not yet begun In which the world will be destroyed Its people vaporised Its forests rendered into matchsticks Its buildings reduced to rubble. Rubble Rubble Rubble. As I am young and inexperienced in Protest and Demos My stand shall be experimental For the gaining of experience And I shall wear the T-shirt - The one I enhanced with felt-tip - And the red ribbon of symbolism. And I shall pout because I am an accomplished Pouter. O, I can pout. I am an Olympic Pouter. Though who cares? No-one shall notice me. I’m only doing this for half-an-hour or so. Maybe just 15 minutes. It would probably take as long To destroy the world In the war they have not yet begun. No-one shall notice me. I can pout as hard as I like. I like these shorts with the sailor style flaps, Very cold-war vintage And my hair looks nice today Though no-one shall notice me. They are eating ice-cream paying money at the gate Looking at the film location of Harry Potter. I’ve read all the Harry Potter books. I am standing here, where no-one else will stand Because I am making a stand. But, No-one shall notice me. Photographed with a Nikon D2Xs + Nikkor-H Auto 300mm f/4.5 lens.
