Another in the Cult of Sydney series. I think I am the only member of this cult. Therefore I am de facto the Cult Leader. The power is quite intoxicating.

Cropped, lightly edited, and converted to B&W using the Picmonkey Tri-X option. The previous version of Picmonkey remains available on ipernity but it will eventually be removed. The new version, which is safer from a computer security viewpoint, will not be freely available to ipernity members and I shall miss some of its features. It is to my mind surprisingly expensive to buy on a subscription, and so it is unlikely I shall use it when the free access ends.

Nikon D2Xs + Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/3.5 AI lens. Much editing in search of a stark appearance. I was encouraged by remarks made by Old Owl. Cheers, Old Owl.

Photographed with a Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm f/2.8 Tessar lens on a Canon EOS 30D via an adapter, with an extension tube between camera and lens. ISO 800, 1/100th, and the lens close to, if not right on, maximum aperture. That is f/2.8 on the humble Tessar.
October Votive Offerings, Avebury (7)

This clump of beech trees is on a knoll where the Avebury stone circle ditch intersects with Green Street (also called 'Herepath'). This is by no means the only place where offerings are left, but it is the most popular.

Stop valve and fire hydrant at East Tytherton, Wiltshire. There are two anonymous companion markers. I don't know their purpose, if they even have one.
On a fire hydrant marker in the U.K., the figure at the top is the size of the main that feeds that hydrant in millimetres – so 75mm here. (Three inches in imperial measure). The lower figure is the distance from the plaque to where the hydrant is in metres. But in which direction? You have to look for the iron flap let into the highway.
Nikon D2Xs and Vivitar 28mm f/2.8 Close Focus Komine-made lens. Aperture-priority; 100 ISO; f/9.5; 1/40th sec.
