In places Pug ditch runs rapidly over gravel and the water looks clear and clean. Yet quite nearby, the bed of the stream is muddy and slow flowing, and the nearby land becomes saturated. I used to play here with Sandra and on one occasion I ventured into the mud and began to sink.
