This Could Be The Last Time

It was black and white. I photographed it in a black and white simulation JPG. Spookily there was a yellow bit. Under strong interrogation in Lightroom the yellow bit became more forthcoming. A new picture emerged.

Distortion

I rediscovered this copy of 'She' magazine dated December, 1966. Capriciously I distorted the photograph in processing. The words are nevertheless legible. The woman in the picture (who had no function to perform in regard to the men's coat under review) now looks even more stricken by something. The magazine gave no credit to the photographer. He or she clearly knew their stuff and maybe couldn't care less about acknowledgement beyond being paid. I should like to see more examples of this photographer's work. 'She' was a British women's monthly magazine that ran for 56 years, from 1955 to September, 2011. having been relaunched in 1988 and revitalised in 2005. It was quite good but the magazine industry is cut-throat. It was unintentional, but it seems to me that the effect of distorting the image has been to make the model look a bit like Victoria Beckham, the former Posh Spice.

Monza

The layout of the track at Monza looks nothing like this. I have no idea why the name 'Monza' came to mind when a title was required for this altered image.

Light and Shadow

Just another assignment. A Tuesday, I think. A Tuesday in January. Bloody cold in that old Manor House. And the car wouldn’t start. Don’t know how I’ll get back. What’s that? No make up? OK. Let’s get on with it. You stand there. By the window. Look out. Look wistful. Can you do bed hair? That’s nice. Sorry it’s so cold. No heating in these old places. Thank God that’s finished. I didn’t like the look of that chair where they put my clothes. Still, too cold for fleas this weather. I hope. He could have given me a lift. The bus is late. Wonder what I’ll have for dinner tonight. Must get some warmer shoes. They say it’s going to snow.

Sally Salon Services, Westgate Buildings, City of…

Junction of James Street West with Westgate Buildings, Bath, Somerset. This area of the city lacks the prime position enjoyed by the big retailers and is a bit shabby. This is the shop window of Sally Salon Services and is brightened up by a large poster in the shop window. Think of the glamour and style that the photographer and the model strived to convey in the studio and contrast it with a run-down street in a depressed local economy under pressure from on-line suppliers and taxes on shops. Nikon D300s + Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens.
