From the Inside of a Bus Shelter

There is something engaging about using the dirty glass of local bus shelters as filters and an otherwise ordinary image made in this way can be enlivened by a person running across the field of view. Voila!

Perhaps I am on the threshold of becoming a man of letters.
This was shot at 210mm, 1/640th; f/5.6. This is the Tamron AF 70-210mm f/2.8 SP LD 67D lens made from 1992 until 2003, a pro spec lens which was presumably priced to compete with the comparable Nikon and Canon lenses (there was a Minolta version too). It relies on screw drive in the Nikon version for its AF. Given the time it was made, that AF was in its infancy, that it was designed to work with film: I think its performance is astounding. I bought it from a bloke on eBay. I had no knowledge of its abilities. I bid for it purely because it was cheap for a pro lens of this type, and I think I got a bargain, (eBay acquisitions do not always work out like this!)

Seen tied to railings alongside Hilperton church in company with many other similar ribbons of varying colours and patterns. Presented in isolation for greater impact.

Completely rebuilt in 1848. The new building was basically a reproduction of the original fourteenth-century building, but with a longer nave and different windows.

Dalmatians are intelligent and good at killing rats. They don't take immediately to strangers. They are predisposed to hearing and hip problems. The breed originates in Dalmatia. Where in the world is Dalmatia? (Answers on a postcard ...)

Where in the world Is Fieldways roundabout?
Nikon D2Xs with a Nikkor AF-S DX 18-200mm lens. Lens at 24mm. Camera at 400 ISO. 1/800th; f/8. Clearly no need for 400 ISO. I just stuck it on that earlier and forgot.
Through a Hedge, Darkly

The gap in the hedge to the field beyond was tiny. The breeze frequently obscured my view and even when it was clear, the poppies were off for a fandango. Added to all that, the white balance couldn't be pinned down. Short of my blundering through the hedge, with all the attendant injuries involved, this turns out to be the best that could be done.
