The Limbo Connection's photos with the keyword: movement

Originally only a fairly low-resolution colour photograph, this has now become a tiny file through an extensive crop and conversion to black-and-white. Vestigial, it represents only what might have been. But it nevertheless looks improved if you press 'z' on your keyboard (and 'esc' when you want to go back). Nikon D50 + Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6 AF-G lens.

'Music and Movement' was a BBC series ('Music and Movement Stage One') provided for schools and broadcast on radio from 1934 until 1969. During some of those years 'radio' was more commonly known as 'wireless'. None of this has anything much to do with the photograph, which incidentally would probably have been called a 'snap' during the same period.

Nikon D50 + AF Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6 G lens. The lens was at 300mm focal length and ISO was set at 400. The Program AE chose a shutter speed of 1/1000 and an aperture of f/5.6.

Earlier this year I bought the Canon 100-300mm USM lens from a secondhand dealer for £49. The dealer warned that it had ‘dusty optics’; if you research the subject of dust in lenses on the web you soon discover that a shovel full of dust in a lens might make a difference to its performance, but a few miniscule specs seldom impair the image. Near where I often buy my groceries there is a recreation ground, and this event was taking place. It seemed too good an opportunity to miss. I have lost count of the number of times I’ve taken a camera ‘just in case’ and for once it was worthwhile. A triumph of hope over experience, as Samuel Johnson remarked, although he was referring to the subject of remarriage, as opposed to habitually taking a camera everywhere. Canon EOS 40D and Canon 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 EF USM lens.
