Let Heaven Go

A bronze by Anna Gillespie of a figure entwined with vines which was on display at Lacock Abbey in May, 2016 when I took this photograph using a Nikon D700 with an AF Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8 lens.
Anna Gillespie remarked, "The sculpture is an expression of sadness at the rift in our relationship with nature, and an affirmation of the idea that heaven is really here on earth within the beauty of the natural world."

A Manifesto proposed by John FitzGerald, Artist of Distinction, of Toronto, Canada, for the Enlightenment and Delight of Residents and Visitors alike to the English seaside resort of Weymouth, Dorset, viz. A statue of The Lady, complete with the Bestway RX-3000 Inflatable Boat (£24.99 from Argos) to be provided and erected within the precincts of the beach. Duly seconded.
The next-best thing to holding a torch aloft at the entrance to a harbour port.

I have isolated and elongated the statue of the soldier and over-exposed the figure to suggest mist.
I remain to be convinced that there is any glory in being killed on a battlefield. Perhaps the word is used in an attempt to help the bereaved.

St Swithin

St Swithin was a 9th Century bishop in the Saxon kingdom of Wessex, whose feast day is on 15 July.
Legend has it that he asked to be buried humbly outside Winchester Cathedral when he died but his remains were dug up in 971 and moved inside the building.
The act was said to have coincided with 40 days and 40 nights of violent storms, indicating his displeasure at being moved.
