What could be more stylish than being a blonde wearing sunglasses?

Nikon D2Xs and Tamron 35mm f/1.8 with just whatever light fell.
ISO 400; f/2.5; 1/25th.
On an APS-C crop-sensor camera such as the D2Xs a 35mm focal length results in a view more like a standard 50mm lens.

Nikon D700 with Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 AF-D lens.
900 ISO; f/1.8, 1/125th.
Edited and converted to B&W in Lightroom.
I was brought up on film where 400 ISO was as fast as you could go with any prospect of decent results.
This is an extraordinary lens given that it was introduced in 1964. Manual focus only of course; pity.

Kennet and Avon Canal, Bath. Thanks to the man for being a good sport.
Nikon D2Xs and Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 lens. This is a selective enlargement. The 17-50mm type of lens suits wide-angle work rather than portraiture. I frequently wanted more telephoto and had to crop in post-processing. These days I get on better with a 18-200mm zoom.

The picture was taken with a Nikon D40 (introduced 2006, CCD sensor). The lens was an elderly Nikkor-H 50mm f/2 from circa 1971. An all-manual experience, like going back in time (except not film).

A chance encounter. I asked if I might take her photograph. She did not object. She wondered if the picture would be improved by some sweeping action. Of course she was right. This was easily the best of the three photographs I made of her. How wonderful it is when strangers agree to be photographed.
Nikon D2Xs + Sigma 15-30mm f/3.5-4.5 lens.
Typical for many ultra wide-angle lenses the Sigma AF 15-30mm EX suffers from very heavy barrel distortion at the wide end of the zoom range. The situation eases continuously towards the 30mm where the lens is almost free of distortion. This photograph was taken at 22mm. Distortion was very noticeable and difficult to correct in post processing.

The photographer was photographed with a Tomioka-built Chinon 55mm f/1.4 lens mounted via an M42 - EOS adapter on a Canon EOS 30D digital SLR camera dating from 2006. The lens is probably from the mid 1970s.

I thought for many years that I had lost this print, and then it surfaced when I had to evacuate several old suitcases which were stored in my attic.

A busy lady who paused for a photograph with a glad heart.

To my untrained eye as a visitor to the East Somerset Railway, I think sometimes he drives and sometimes he shovels. He had sole charge of the engine in between runs and invited me to join him on the footplate. This was an exciting experience. Quite hot, too.

Some people whom you ask will readily agree to be photographed but they will stand in front of you like a board. Others know exactly what to do, and this lady falls into that category. If I were a better photographer I would have done her more justice.
