Lacock Abbey. Before Covid, I spent a lot of time here, always finding opportunities for pictures, but I have not visited since 2019. In fact, I have since sold the camera and lens used to make this photograph, and a good many other pieces of kit as well. (Posted 31 October, 2023).
Nikon D700 and Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8 AF lens at 48mm. F/8.

The Apostle Garden at Lytes Cary Manor takes its name from the twelve yew bushes that line the front path, with the water tower at the end built in imitation of Avebury Manor dovecote.
Sir Walter Jenner, who was the son of Queen Victoria's physician, bought Lytes Cary Manor in 1907. His brother Leopold had recently acquired and begun restoring Avebury Manor, Wiltshire. On his death in 1948, Sir Walter left Lytes Cary to the National Trust. Coincidentally, the National Trust also now owns Avebury Manor which they bought in 1991.

Canon EOS 40D + Canon 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 EF USM lens. There are plenty of these lenses on the secondhand market, and you don't need to pay much. The quality of the images it provides is pretty fair on a cropped sensor camera and at moderate ISO levels, stopped down a bit, and using the wider end, photographs can be sharp and vibrant. My copy has a bit of dust internally but adding contrast in post production soon sorts that out. Probably not a zoom lens to use at full telephoto and widest aperture in low light. But tell me one that is.
Shooting information: lens at 300mm. Aperture f/9.5. Shutter speed 1/500th sec. ISO 400.
