The old entrance to the Roath Dock. Now sealed up and spanned by the footbridge carrying the path to the Barrage. This was where Scott of the Antartic set sail from on his tragic expedition to the South Pole.

The slogan "Arbeit macht frei" was placed at the entrances to a number of Nazi concentration camps, as a kind of mystical declaration that self-sacrifice in the form of endless labor does in itself bring a kind of spiritual freedom. But why here at a former childrens holiday camp??
