This is a culvert or drainage level coming from the Ty'r Jenkins direction, possibly the Little Red Ash level of 1908-1913.
A tramway probably ran over the top of it at one time but the soil has washed away.

I thought all the pit head gear had gone in South Wales, apart from Tower Colliery, Rhondda Heritage Park and Big Pit, I was wrong.

The reception sidings leading to the hoists on the southern side of Penarth Docks. The line at the very bottom right ran to the engine sheds.

A good shot of the four hoists in the 'basin' at Penarth Docks. So effecient that a ship could enter the dock on a rising tide, be loaded, and leave on the falling tide!
