This is a culvert or drainage level coming from the Ty'r Jenkins direction, possibly the Little Red Ash level of 1908-1913. A tramway probably ran over the top of it at one time but the soil has washed away.

A good shot of the four hoists in the 'basin' at Penarth Docks. So effecient that a ship could enter the dock on a rising tide, be loaded, and leave on the falling tide! [?]
