The new road tunnel cut to allow easy access to the quarry sliced through the old Barry Railway Tunnel above to the right (and left). I walked through the railway tunnel in the 1970's when there were millions of tons of rock above, Now cut away by man.

Good fun tunnel to explore this one, it's on a curve, so in the middle you are in total darkness. It has been cleaned out (you can see bulldozer scrapes in this picture) so there aren't any unexpeted obstructions. [?]

It was a bit damp in the tunnel, but not as damp as outside!! What an awful day weatherwise. [?]
