I'm not sure why these spindle things on wall clocks ever existed. I've never seen one in the wild. Shown smaller than the original completed size of 3000 X 3150 pixels. The figure drawing is "Young Man Holding A Pole," by Mirabello Cavalori. The catalogue it's from says only, "14th to 17th Century," in regards to when it was done.
