Happy Saturday! (Or Sunday, depending on where you are.) That floral shape is the same one as in this year's "Space Spider", but heavily filtered and recolored. After its transformation, it made me think of candy corn. Hence the title and the kids' Western motif. Hope you enjoy seeing it as much as I enjoyed making it. Song reference , give or take a spelling change. :D The accidental candy corn via filtration has happened before. Here , for instance. But that always was a favorite Halloween treat for me. Still running two years behind schedule. Lol. I turned 58 today. I began this series in 2018, but lost a couple of years along the way. Even I wasn't sure that I knew why it became a series in the first place, until I remembered an obscure superhero comic from the late 1980s. A villain crashes a hero's birthday party, offers his arch foe a box of candy, and proclaims that the universe will end when the last candy is gone. Is it still a gallery if it's outside? Well, it is now. :D One day, I have to remember to tell the story of how Herbert Read's A Concise History of Modern Sculpture (1964) helped save me from a blizzard. Song break!! And you'd better believe that after a two-month-plus gap in finishing a piece, I also want to dance. What happened? Uh, a whole lot of reorganizing my files and adding new source material. Also, I got sick, but that seems to be on the wane now. I hope this was worth the wait. The area at the bottom was once a string of pearls in an old photo of a Hollywood starlet. Then I saw the mushrooms "grow" from the many filters I layered on (along with the bouquet) and used a dry brush and pencil to "carve them out." :D Shown smaller than the original completed size of 3540 X 2625 pixels. Like every collage maven, I'm fond of Joseph Cornell's work. I've done a whole series of "wood-framed" pieces because of him. But I think this is my first one to exist only on computer. Original size: 2938 x 2946 pixels. One of several sources can be seen here .
