Bosom pals of the girl who’s not pretty and not nice and doesn’t give a toss, the also not pretty and not nice but deliriously bright Gemini Sisters have come to their Orchard of Delights to pick up a few novelty items to further brighten their days. The garden has been exceptionally imaginative, lately, and it has presented the twins with a truly bizarre, but exceedingly cuddly variety of Fish-In-A-Bubble thingummybob. Clever Orchard! Lucky twins! Sometimes life is so sweet…

Times being so very lousy, it almost feels mean-spirited to have an Anti-Valentine. Why, even the BIC (Brainwashing Industrial Complex) seem to have toned down the mawkishness and the ersatz sentiment, poor dears! (Giggle, giggle.)
On the other hand it’s good to keep up some traditions, especially those that promote insubordination, so as a sort of via media, we have dispensed with our customary annual riotous shindig and taken ourselves to a quiet garden party thrown by Bella, the young novice gardener. She’s doing very well; what she lacks in expertise she more than makes up for in passion and taste. Behold the birdies a-fluttering and the tiny floating wraiths praising her efforts and the flowers (which BoomBoom calls “flehs”) thriving even before spring has had a chance to consider waking up!
The food served was scrumptious and the drinks pure nectar (what else?). We all had a grand time as well as miniature potted Japanese peonies as a souvenir.
Have a lovely weekend!

Sad Garden. aka En un berenjenal*. Questing for Bumba knows what, she’s wandered into the saddest, spikiest garden in the ‘hood. Nothing but fretworks and tall grasses, and only two small miasmas for company. The spiny weeds already have started infiltrating her savage breast. I have dispatched the tiny Savant Onions to offer some help and guidance or, failing that, some superlatively silly jokes to cheer her up and counteract the oppressive effect of the thorny weeds. We wish her the best of luck. Who knows, perhaps the small miasmas are friendly, too, and willing to guide her out of that wilderness she’s got herself into. Avanti popolo!
Spanish lesson for the weekend.
*Meterse en un berenjenal, Sp. Colloquial. To get one self into a pickle. To bite more that one can chew.
The quotation in the pic is from an old Soleá de la Serneta, sung by La Niña de los Peines. In the same song she also sang:
Fui piedra y perdi mi centro
y me arrojaron al mar
y a fuerza de mucho tiempo
mi centro vine a encontrar.
There. Have two links to that masterpiece of cante viejo:

Por mucho pan nunca mal año, as we always say in my neck of the woods (or spiny gardens, regardless).
Have a sponditious weekend.
