Snow and the beanstalks. c.1980

25 Jul 2014 124
Now that I am living in sunny Australia, this snow picture brings back fond memories. It shows snow covering the back garden of our home in Cam, Gloucestershire, in about the year 1980.

Darkroom in the snow c.1980

03 Aug 2014 89
This is only a shed but, for many years, this was my personal darkroom. It had its own power supply for the MPP enlarger (medium format and 35mm), with Ross 80mm enlarging lens. A piece of black plastic covered the window. Unfortunately, the shed wasn't light-proof, so I still had to wait for darkness to fall, before I could my outside darkroom.

Misty view of the valley. c.1979

02 Oct 2014 126
I'm not sure of the exact location, but this view shows the hills, trees and houses in one of the Gloucestershire valleys in the late 1970s.

Gloucestershore valley. c.1979

02 Oct 2014 106
This exposure was made from a slightly different angle from the previous one. It shows the gentle valleys of Gloucestershire and how the houses seem to harmlessly mingle with the trees. The date is the late 1970s. Ilford FP4 film, 35mm camera

Old wooden wheel. 1981

Another photo taken at a site of old, broken wooden wheels and travellers' carts in Stroud, Gloucestershire, back in 1981.

Different age, different transport. 1981

06 Oct 2014 121
Virtually everything about this old cart is made out of wood. A horse would have pulled it around the streets of Gloucestershire up until the 1970s. This graveyard of old abandoned vehicles was found near the centre of Stroud in 1981.

Dursley town centre. c.1978

19 Oct 2014 157
Not the prettiest view of a town centre, but this was how Dursley looked like at the end of the 1970s. The large building is the Market House, built in 1738. Today, in 2014, the shop fronts have changed, the geometry of the road is different, and the shop on the right 'Wilkes' has been demolished.

Ginger: The master of the tool box. c.1978

Ginger, our charismatic tom cat, gets up from his slumber in the tool box, to feel the warmth of the sun in his face. The three things he enjoyed most in life were: food, sleep and the warm sun.
