The trucks look like toys, but each weigh hundreds of tonnes. This is the Super Pit – the largest open pit gold mine in Australia.

Another view of the giant gold open pit mine. Not surprisingly, the mine is operational 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Super Pit in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. It is the largest gold open pit in the country and produces 850 000 ounces of gold each year. The trucks at the bottom of the pit (on the right) are 500 metres below ground level and each truck weighs about 400 tonnes when loaded.
