Just relaxing with my seaplane

16 Aug 2014 93
Unfortunately not my seaplane, but what better way to get to the beach for a relaxing hour or two.

SS Kwinana remains

17 Aug 2014 80
This rusty piece of metal is what remains of the bow of the shipwreck—the SS Kwinana. In the year 1922, during a storm, the ship broke free from its of moorings and became beached. The ship was never removed and later gave its name to the area.

Blowing in the wind: Kwinana Port

Ships load their cargoes in the clear blue waters of Kwinana Port. In the foreground is Wells Park, a popular spot for picnics and fishing.

Giant Cockeral Sculpture

18 Aug 2014 91
Not something you will see everyday... this giant cockerel sits 4.72 metres high and weighs over 800kg. 'Hahn / Cock, 2013', made by German-born artist Katharina Fritsch, looks out over Trafalgar Square, London.

Mad dogs of West Bay

20 Aug 2014 102
The sea water is bitterly cold in the English south-coast holiday resort of West Bay in winter month of December. Only mad dogs, and the occasional Englishman, go out into the midday sea.

Sidelined: the former West Bay railway Station

21 Aug 2014 303
The West Bay railway station in Dorset saw its last train back in 1930. Today, some eight-four years later, the station still looks in good shape. It now houses The Tea Station .

Returning home

As the sun sets, a boat is winched to the back of the owner's car, and all is well...

Swan River, Perth

29 Jul 2014 108
I do like to shoot directly into the sun, as the results are often quite atmospheric. Two people enjoy the view of the Swan River as the sun sits low on the horizon.

Relaxed

03 Jun 2014 110
I like the contrast of the still water—plus the boat owner's legs draped over the stern of the boat—and the threatening clouds engulfing the Perth city skyline.

Day 13/365

17 Jun 2014 107
I very much like the design for this street sign, Kent Street Deli. The sign uses a fork for the stem of the letter 'K'; a knife for the letter 'L' and a swash 'D'. Some years ago I worked as sign designer; even today I tend to notice all sorts of street signs. Kent Street Deli, Kent Street, Rockingham, Western Australia

Day 14/365

18 Jun 2014 85
It is mid-June—but this looks suspiciously like a Christmas themed attraction designed to bring in the shoppers. There was more than a few people tut-tutting when they saw this. Rockingham Shopping Centre, Western Australia.

Day 15/365

Walyungup Lake, early evening.
