Robert Blake, 'Father of the Royal Navy' and former Bridgwater Member of Parliament, stands outside the Corn Exchange, which is adorned with Christmas lights, December 2014. Coming from a film background, I still find it astonishing that the above picture was exposed at 3200 ASA/ISO. There is good detail in the shadow areas and digital noise is mimimal.

I like this portrait: with its strong diagonal lines, eye contact with the photographer, out of focus background, and bygone atmosphere. Then again I might be a bit biased as the subject is my mother, Ida Cornick, when she was a bit younger (the year is 1961) and the photographer is my father, Michael Cornick.
