Evening Dip

17 Aug 2014 103
A family enjoy an evening dip into the cool waters of the Swan River in Perth, Western Australia.

Day 7/365

11 Jun 2014 102
The family in this photo are standing on the wreck of the SS Kwinana , which in 1922 ran aground on a beach in Western Australia, south of Perth. The area then became known as Kwinana. Since 1922 the population has grown to over 32,000 inhabitants, and Kwinana officially became a city In 2012. Rockingham, which borders Kwinana, was also named after a ship wreck. In 1830 the ship Rockingham was abandoned after being blown ashore. Today, Rockingham has grown to become a city too. This picture was made with a 24mm wide-angle lens in order to include a lot of sky. Split-toning has been added in Photoshop to add a bit of tone in both the highlights and shadows (yellow in the highlights and purple in the shadows).

Fun at the seaside

These people are certainly having fun on the beach. This image was probably taken about fifty years ago, somewhere in the UK. The photo was part of a bundle of old images that I bought from eBay a few years ago. 29/365
