Kings Square, Gloucester. c.1980

This peaceful scene was photographed in the English city of of Gloucester in about 1980. Today, the water features have gone; unfortunately Kings Square now looks quite barren.

London Eye from Westminster Bridge

15 Jan 2015 159
The River Thames glides past the London Eye – a Ferris wheel – and Country Hall on an early December day in late 2014. Photographed upon Westminster Bridge, the setting made famous by William Wordsworth. Composed upon Westminster Bridge, September 3, 1802 By William Wordsworth. Earth has not anything to show more fair: Dull would he be of soul who could pass by A sight so touching in its majesty: This City now doth, like a garment, wear The beauty of the morning; silent, bare, Ships, towers, domes, theatres, and temples lie Open unto the fields, and to the sky; All bright and glittering in the smokeless air. Never did sun more beautifully steep In his first splendour, valley, rock, or hill; Ne'er saw I, never felt, a calm so deep! The river glideth at his own sweet will: Dear God! the very houses seem asleep; And all that mighty heart is lying still!

Early risers. Westminster Bridge, London

Early morning workers, and the occasional tourist, cross Westminster Bridge on a cold, dark December morning. In the background is Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

Portrait of a mum-to-be. 1961

I like this portrait: with its strong diagonal lines, eye contact with the photographer, out of focus background, and bygone atmosphere. Then again I might be a bit biased as the subject is my mother, Ida Cornick, when she was a bit younger (the year is 1961) and the photographer is my father, Michael Cornick. The setting is most probably in the county of Somerset, England. Yashica-Mat D camera 30/365
