A cardinal on a pole. The pole is popular with the blue jays. The cardinals are usually more timid and stay in the bushes or higher up in the trees. Perhaps he was feeling bold or had been watching the jays and thought "guess what, I can do that too".

A male cardinal in the garden. They stay throughout the winter even in the coldest weather. We have a small group of four males and four females that visit pretty regularly but they are skittish and don't stay close to the house for long.
