Armoured Simplex [wks no 435, plate dated Feb 1917} with War Dept and the "broad arrow" ... Not fully enclosed ... to the right is what looks like part of "Charlie" - 4wDM 9976 - also a Motor-Rail "Simplex" delivered new to Somerset River Board in 1954. The become disguised as a steam outline at the Cotswold Wildlife Park [Burford]. Came to Statfold and reverted to standard profile and repainted into military colours.

Well, it's a railway ... a simple oval around part of the Strumpshaw Hall site, about 1/2 mile in length. Single coach hauled by a mock-steam-outline engine. Underneath the fake bodywork is a Simplex. Built by Motorail of Bedford in 1937. Model 7192 20/28 hp. Originally supplied to River Wye Catchment Board, Hereford, with a Dorman 2HW diesel [No FD 29992]. Now powered by a three-cylinder Perkins. Engine carries the name "Jimmy" in memory of James Key, and the station is now "Strumpshaw Halt" after the renovations in 2009/10.

"Protected" Simplex 3090 at Apedale, just coming off shed - once the passenger service has gone past will be heading out to the "Tracks to the Trenches" area.
