Just two of the many picnic tables around the Wasdale Head Inn. We've just had a "Sunday Lunch" sitting outside in the sun, which was beating down from a cloudless sky ! {still a little too early for Herdwick lambs, unfortunately. Although there were plenty of others to be seen}

Sadly I don't think this class 37 will move much. This is D6898 aka 37198{TOPS}. The Class 37s were designed by English Electric and built at their Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns works in Darlington. D6898 was the final locomotive built at the works before its closure. 37198 was withdrawn from service in 1999 and preserved before being resold to Network Rail in 2008. After being used as a spares donor for other class members, it was donated to the North Road / Head of Steam Museum in August 2021. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_37 Picnic tables, and Yellow fences on hard standing ...

STR - Picnic tables

The area around Alston Station [South Tynedale Railway's upper terminus] is well supplied with picnic tables, and there are more tables & seating under the station canopy. Plus there's the cafe - which is currently known as Hickins' as well as the Crossing Cafe since the outside seating overlooks the level crossing. 2023 - the current menu & standard of service is very good and as it is dog-friendly we go there at least once a month for a meal and drinks.
