Detail of one of the yellow flowers from the standard variegated Abutilons. Yes it is *that* close to the ceiling !

One of the variegated versions, this type needs plenty of sun to keep the pattern on the leaves and to encourage flowers, which are usually yellow to yellow/orange colours. It can grow to several feet in height, with multiple stems if left untamed.

This salmon pink / red veined variety of Abutilon tended to have multiple flower heads open at the same time, also it had several repeat flowering sessions. Unfortunately, it didn't set seed.

Abutilon [flowering maple] - the floweres tend to last only a few days, especially if it is hot and sunny. I had to have several attempts at this close-up, but finally the camera focused on the flower's details, instead of the stems.
