VoR[84] - summer 1984 with No9 in hi-viz livery

26 Jan 2023 84
VoR Locomotive No.9 "Prince of Wales" in the "hi-viz" livery carried in the early 1980s. I recall chasing this up & down the valley a few days before the official unveiling, not that it was easy to miss. If I remember correctly, the colour was described "Stroudley's 'improved engine green'" [which sort of proves he was somewhat colour-blind] - this yellow ochre has been seen on the Bluebell Railway's "Stepney" and also on "Fenchurch". In 2019 No.9 was in GWR livery and carried the number 1213, in 2024 she was in the VoR museum with that number.

aka No.9 "Prince of Wales" - on the layover at Devil's Bridge. last time I saw this it had an extremely striking livery ... not the sober GWR one carried at present.

PQR - 1950 Titan crane

1950s image of the Titan crane on the North Breakwater, delivering blocks for the divers to deal with. The group of divers are in light coloured clothes. it looks like at least one block is already underwater, another is on the crane whilst the last waits on the waggon, there are three waggons in the short train, propelled by the loco "Prince of Wales".
