Bella reacted to the sound of the camera checking the focus and moved her head before I had a chance to snap the image.
BtC - want some ...

How can you resist those puppy eyes !
Bella hoping for a treat - a bite from some sausage ...

Bella getting in a quick kiss - at Harbourmaster, Whitehaven.
E2A - Bella's kiss is just a quick, very dry & warm touch of her tongue to the tip of your nose - or sometimes an ear lobe. She certainly doesn't slobber over you.
BtC - goofy dog

Very happy Bella showing the half yard of tripe that is disguised as her tongue.
[Actually her licks are warm and very dry !]
Sitting with I&J on the big sofa in Harbourmaster [coffee during the day and drinkies at night]
BtC - by the slipway

Taking Bella for her first walk on the outer harbour beach at Whitehaven - now the tide has gone out enough that we can walk around this *!*!*!* slipway.
[Not happy about that slipway as it messes up a) access and b) the sand levels].
BtC - beach-time

In the market place at Whitehaven are these two statues, representing the sailors & maritime history of this town. Back in the 18th century Whitehaven was, after London, the second busiest port of England. This is by tonnage from 1750 to 1772, with export of coal - mainly to Ireland / Isle of Man - and trade with the American colonies.
BtC - is it bedtime, yet ?

Somebody is getting very tired, after running on the beach and walking around the harbour and up Whitehaven high street !
Although, it is only lunchtime.
BtC - what is that you are drinking ?

Bella would like us to hurry up with finishing off the coffee, after lunch - Then we'll head off the boat for a walk ... possibly on the beach [depending on the tide],
BtC - lap dog [again !]

Bella trying out the nearest lap for size !
She wasn't quite still when I clicked the shutter, hence the odd state of her face / eyes.
BtC - top of the beach

Corner of the outer harbour beach.
Bella's not sure about the seaweed and other smells ...
This rock is usually covered by a significant depth of sand, but a combination of recent weather - and the "new" concrete slipway nearby - has meant the sand has washed out from the corner.
BtC - almost there

Bella has almost reached the water ...
on this occasion, she didn't paddle, just her toes got wet as she tasted the sea - yuck ! being the reaction.
BtC - trotting down the beach

Red "Pillar Box" in the Market Place at Whitehaven.
The cast monogram is George VI who reigned between December 1936 and his death in February 1952.
Note Also the cast "Post Office" who dealt with the Royal Mails until the idiotic partial privatisation in 2013, the government sold off the remaining 30% stake in 2015, which ended 499 years of public ownership.
BtC - early one morning {1 of 3}

Best of three shots, taken early one morning on the boat in Whitehaven. My poor tootsies were under Bella !
BtC - steps in the corner
23 Jun 2024 |
|
Sloped sea wall and access steps to the outer harbour beach, Bella manged climbing up here somewhat better than we did !
This block-work is usually covered by a significant depth of sand, but a combination of recent weather - and the "new" concrete slipway nearby - has meant the sand has washed out from the corner.
This makes access very difficult for the less able, especially as some of the wooden battens on the slope above the steps have - again - been damaged or lost completely.
