Plaque recording the development and official opening of this area of the Marine Gardens in 1934.
The dedication reads :-
Borough of Douglas
New Loch Promenade and Marine Gardens
constructed and laid out 1928 - 1934

The Right Honourable Sir John Gilmour B.T., D.S.O., M,P.

The lower section is a list of mayors, local councillors and aldermen, including those sitting on the Works Committee, the last section gives the Town Clerk and the Borough Engineer.

Detail of the plaque on the base of the 1887 Jubilee Clock, at the foot of Victoria Street.
It was manufactured by Walter Macfarlane & Co at the Saracen Works in Glasgow, and some parts were sent to England for restoration in 1996. [it was re-sited onto a new plinth in 2013]
