No.12 Villa Marina gardens, the crowd of deckchairs on the right indicate that some entertainment is in progress - possibly an open-air concert. No.11 This is the little cove just southeast of Douglas Head, access would have been from what is now the Marine Drive, and the path down to the Lighthouse. No.9 Mona's Queen [?] on the inside of Victoria Pier. No.4 Loch Promenade, Douglas. The 1887 Jubilee Clock is on the extreme left. It was manufactured by Walter Macfarlane & Co at the Saracen Works in Glasgow, and some parts were sent to England for restoration in 1996. [it was re-sited onto a new plinth in 2013]

No.2 Approximately midway along Douglas Promenade, looking north. The "Villa Marina" entertainment complex is the colonnaded structure, centre left. No.1 A group of small fishing boats, rafted / moored together. The tide is out, so I doubt that there is much water under them. Location is Douglas Bay, not far from the Harbour. The picturesque structure on the island in the background is the "Tower of Refuge" - built in 1832 under the auspices of Sir William Hillary. The wreck of the RMS St George on St Mary's Isle two years before prompted the scheme to build a refuge. It was partially funded by public subscriptions, with Sir William covering the additional funds needed to cover the remaining costs of the architect & builder.
