The "Merlin" is running and has attracted quite a group alongside. It is as noisy as I expected !

Rolls Royce "Merlin" aeroplane engine - with shortened propeller blades. Merlins are associated with the Supermarine Spitfire and the Avro Lancaster, amongst other aircraft. . This was run several times, started by cartridge, and it produced quite a slipstream - as well as being very noisy - but such a distinctive sound !
