It looks likely that movements on the East Anatolian fault were the cause of the two major 'quakes on 6th February 2023. . e2a - and the later [20th Feb '23] 'quake near Hatay - big enough to be thought of as another 'quake if it had occurred in isolation, this was classified as an aftershock from the two events on 6th February 2023, as the whole area adjusted and re-adjusted. . . Areas of various degrees of 'shaking' and hence damage to buildings etc as a result of the first of two serious earthquakes in Türkiye [Turkey] on 6th February 2023. The death toll and general destruction [even of 'quake resistant structures] has been significant, and the war in Syria hasn't helped. There were a number of significant "aftershocks" in the days following. Plus another serious quake neat Hatay a couple of weeks later, which has been re-classified as an aftershock. . .
