Image of LMS 5-plank 12ton waggon no.M412454 at Stoke Loco Shed in June1967 [credited to Jonathan Martin] . . The livery is very faded / worn - Bauxite at one point showed the vehicle was vacuumn braked [and I can see one of the connecting hoses] Coupling is of the screw link variety. M in the number indicates that this is allocated to the Midland Region. Whatever this waggon was carrying recently was white and probably liquid as you can see where some spillage has drained away, and from the look of it, some went over the hand-brake ! . . Official builder's outshop image of LMS 5-plank, 12 tons, open wagon no.406644 Built by Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company (GRC&W) in ?1937? Steel underframe. Livery is large letters, body all one colour, with only the running gear & the three-link coupling in black. Gives a good view of the way the end has been built, also the apparent lack of a curb rail protecting the end grain of the flooring. Metal underframe, large letters, with the woodwork and solebars / headstocks all appearing to be a similar colour, with only the disc wheels, springs, axle-boxes, w-irons and brakegear in black. Model of a 7-plank Cambrian Railways waggon. All wheels braked, and appears to be a metal underframe, but I think the indicated capacity is too low. No feathers, but Cambrian rendered within a lozenge shape ... [Not sure about Cardiff, the Cambrian was certainly connected to there]. . Not my Image : fair use & public information
