Lovely [not] Yellow Warning form the UK's Met Office for Snow & Ice on Saturday 15th February 2025. I don't remember the road outside being gritted !
{Definitely damp & relatively feeling very cold this morning - yesterday, tipped ice from the bird bath onto the grass, this morning it was still there, completely unthawed}.
e2a [on the 16th] definitely had the ice yesterday - very slippery & lasted all day, but no snow ...

shw[7-22] - extreme heatwave; part 2
06 Aug 2022 |
|
|
The second period of extreme heat was forecast over the weekend 17-19th July 2022, it produced the first RED warning for temperature and high alerts for medical and transport facilities.
Another heatwave in the first half of August is predicted to last longer than this mid-July period [4 days instead of two] but may not reach 40degrees.
A continuing problem is the near drought conditions.
There have been a lot of "grass" fires, some of which have been escaped BBQs, others have resulted in the distressing loss of family homes. I hope that the idiots who discard lit cigarettes and abandon BBQs actually have a conscience and stop their anti-social behaviour before lives are lost.

06 Aug 2022 |

The MetOffice data showing how much the UK's mean temperature has changed in the period 1890 to 2021. There has been significant individual fluctuations from year to year, but a very clear overall, long-term increase, despite the shallow drop between 1950 and 1965.
It will be interesting to see how the 2022 summer heatwave affects this ...
