Purpose-built building housing the Mortier organ. Constructed during the 1930s in Antwerp, Belguim, with a Art Deco style frontage. I don't know the Key number, but anything from around 81 to 101 looks about right. Operates on the "jaquard" card system, but wasn't operating the day of our visit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortier [I would take a slight issue with the description - I tend towards this example being a "Dance Hall" organ rather than a "cinema" organ].

ssm - Christie Cinema Organ

Originally at the Majestic Cimema in Reigate, built by Wiliam Hill & Son, and Norman & Beard of London, with some parts from Norwich, from October 1935 to 1962. The console was on a lift in the orchestra pit. After several moves, it was bought by James key and came to Strumpshaw in 1997. Behind the camera is a double row of real, flip-up, cinema seats. Being a cinema organ it doesn't have a fancy frontage, but it sounds just grand - if a bit on the loud side. A gentleman named Steve was playing a range of music for part of the time during our visit. Unfortunately, the light display within the console wasn't working. I had a short chat with him afterwards, and managed to have a sneak look into "the works" - very impressive ...
