As it has been so wet, this climber / rambling rose has had a growth spurt this year [2024] and I'm going to have a fun job of getting it back under control. It is, I think, "Madame Alfred Carriere" - which was introduced in 1879. Also, there's some deadwood to prune away and clematis to detach. {plus more work around the door as I've managed to acquire some brambles in with the main clematis stem}.

The first decent bloom for 2024 on the rambler that lives next to the front door. It is, I think, "Madame Alfred Carriere" - which was introduced in 1879.

A close up of one of the flowers on the rambler. Lovely, pale pink with a strong, sweet scent. (first flush flowers much greater numbers in July 2021)
