shw[7-22] - extreme heatwave; part 2

06 Aug 2022 1 63
The second period of extreme heat was forecast over the weekend 17-19th July 2022, it produced the first RED warning for temperature and high alerts for medical and transport facilities. Another heatwave in the first half of August is predicted to last longer than this mid-July period [4 days instead of two] but may not reach 40degrees. A continuing problem is the near drought conditions. There have been a lot of "grass" fires, some of which have been escaped BBQs, others have resulted in the distressing loss of family homes. I hope that the idiots who discard lit cigarettes and abandon BBQs actually have a conscience and stop their anti-social behaviour before lives are lost. . not my image ; fair use & public information

I live approximately where that amber warning cuts the border between England and Scotland. Judging by the damage caused by windy weather over Friday night, we were actually inside the zone. [mainly to nearby trees, but power lines were down only a few miles away]. . Storm Arwen - in the UK - 25th to 27th November 2021 - resulted in many people being without electrical power due to damaged OHL supply routes, sometimes for prolonged periods. eg. Over 100 poles were snapped in one small area. . en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storm_Arwen . Note : Storm Barra visited similar areas about 10 days later. . . Not my Image - Fair use & public information
